Key Events & Festivals

April 13–15

Songkran (Thai New Year)

Nationwide water festival — the streets of Bangkok turn into massive water fights. Unmissable if you want to get soaked.

November (full moon)

Loi Krathong

Thousands of lit krathong (floating offerings) released on the Chao Phraya River. Beautiful and atmospheric.

December

Bangkok New Year

Central World countdown is one of Asia's biggest NYE celebrations.

Planning Tips

November to February is the golden window — visit temples without melting in the heat

Songkran (April 13–15) is incredible but extremely chaotic — every street is a water fight

Monsoon season rains are usually short and intense, not all-day — Bangkok is still very functional

Avoid March–May unless you have excellent heat tolerance — Bangkok regularly hits 40°C with high humidity
