Monaco GP — FAQ

What makes Monaco the most prestigious F1 race?

Monaco is the crown jewel of F1 — a street circuit threading through the Principality's glamorous streets, harbour, and tunnels. It has been on the calendar since 1929, forming part of the historic Triple Crown of Motorsport (alongside the Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours). Overtaking is nearly impossible, making qualifying and strategy crucial. The combination of history, spectacle, and the wealth and glamour of Monaco makes it an unmissable event.

Which grandstands are best for the Monaco Grand Prix?

Grandstand K at the Nouvelle Chicane (harbour complex) is considered the best grandstand view — you see cars through two slow corners with the harbour and superyachts in the background. Grandstand A at Sainte Dévote (Turn 1) captures first-lap drama. The Tribune du Rocher (near Casino Square) offers a unique elevated view over the circuit. Many fans prefer the free public areas at Rascasse (final corner before start/finish) where crowds gather for up-close action.

How do you get to Monaco for the F1?

Fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) and take the 35-minute train to Monaco-Monte Carlo station, or use the helicopter shuttle (7 minutes, approx €180). The drive from Nice is 30–45 minutes but parking is extremely limited during race week. From Paris, TGV trains run to Nice (5.5 hours) or fly Nice from most European hubs. Monaco has no airport — Nice is your gateway.

Where should you stay for the Monaco GP?

Monaco hotels (Hôtel de Paris, Fairmont, Columbus) are extremely expensive during race week and book out 12+ months in advance. Many fans stay in Nice (35 min train), Antibes (45 min), Cannes (1h), or Menton (15 min east) and commute daily. Nice has far more affordable options and is a great city in its own right. Some fans rent apartments in Monaco months in advance — check Airbnb for early listings.
