How to Get from Taipei Airport to Taipei City

The Taoyuan Airport MRT connects both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 directly to Taipei Main Station — the fastest, most reliable option. Express trains take just 35 minutes; commuter trains stop at more stations and take about 50 minutes.

1. Follow Airport MRT signs inside the arrivals hall.
2. Purchase a single-journey ticket or tap with an EasyCard (contactless).
3. Board the Purple Line Express towards Taipei Main Station.
4. Alight at Taipei Main Station (A1) — connects to TRA, THSR, and city MRT lines.

Single fare: 160 TWD (~$5 USD). Trains every 15–30 min, 06:00–23:00 daily. Express trains (marked purple) don't stop at intermediate stations.

Licensed taxis depart from designated stands at arrivals level. The meter starts at 70 TWD; expect 1,000–1,300 TWD to central Taipei depending on traffic. A freeway surcharge of ~100 TWD applies for routes via National Freeway No.1.
